1. Kinsta vs SiteGround - Ease of Use

Ease of use is one of the most important considerations when choosing a web hosting provider. Your website is your business, and you want it to be easy to manage.

In this section, I will look at the ease of use of each platform - how easy it is to get started, how easy it is to manage your site(s), and how intuitive the customer experience is.

Let's start with Kinsta.

Kinsta’s User Experience

Kinsta's dashboard has been designed to be the best hosting dashboard in the industry. It's packed with features and tools to help you build and manage your WordPress site while ensuring that everything is easy, intuitive, and fast.

The Kinsta dashboard gives you many features and tools for managing your WordPress sites. If you've ever had to use cPanel or another clunky, bloated piece of software to manage your hosting, then you know how frustrating it can be.

That’s why they've built “MyKinsta,” a custom dashboard that provides easy access to the most frequently used features and tools for managing your WordPress sites.

The first thing you'll see when you log in is the "My Sites" tab, which lists all your WordPress sites. You can click on any of these sites to enter their respective dashboards.

Kinsta Dashboard

From there, you can see your site’s basic information and access all other important features such as backups, site analytics, APM tool, CDN, users, redirects, plugins, themes, etc.

One of my favorite features is the live chat box at the bottom of each page. It allows you to connect with their support staff when needed.

Additionally, the dashboard includes an extensive knowledge base with articles explaining how to use each feature of their platform. They even have step-by-step tutorials that walk you through how to set up some of our more advanced features, like backup schedules and staging environments.

SiteGround’s User Experience

SiteGround's hosting dashboard is super easy to use. It's a one-stop shop for everything you need to do with your website, from creating a new site to managing its security and performance.

The dashboard is well organized, with tabs for each main section — Domains, Hosting, Tools, and Help — and a search box on top.

SiteGround Control Panel

In the My Sites section, you can see all your sites listed on a single page with an easy-to-read interface. You can also create new sites from there and manage existing ones by going into each site's settings directly.

In the My Services section, you can find all sorts of information about your account and your current billing cycle—including server load, bandwidth usage, and disk space consumption—all in one place.

The Support Center contains contact information for technical support and a knowledge base full of articles covering various topics related to web hosting.

Summary (Ease of Use)

Q: Which host's control panel is more beginner-friendly?

A: Kinsta is the clear winner in this category. It's incredibly easy to use, and it has a ton of features that make it perfect for hosting WordPress sites. The control panel is sleek and simple, with everything laid out in an intuitive way.

Winner: Kinsta

2. Kinsta vs SiteGround - Features

When choosing a web host, you'll want to be sure that the features offered by the company are up to par with your needs.

For example, if you run an eCommerce site, you'll need a company that offers SSL certificates to protect customers' personal information.

Similarly, suppose you're a blog business that attracts a lot of international traffic. You may consider getting a CDN (Content Delivery Network) to improve your site's performance.

The good news is that both Kinsta and SiteGround offer all of the standard features you'd expect from a hosting provider: free SSL certificate, WordPress-specific features like one-click installs and automatic updates, and SSH access… The list goes on!

However, there are a few key differences between Kinsta and SiteGround that make one more suitable for your specific needs.

In this section, I will compare their features to help you decide which is best for your needs.

Features Kinsta Offers, But SiteGround Doesn’t:

1. Kinsta is built on Google’s best and fastest C2 machines

Kinsta is built on Google’s best and fastest C2 machines. This means your server will be lightning fast, and you can expect an average load time of under 1 second for your pages.

SiteGround, on the other hand, uses Google's N2 machines, which are not as fast as Kinsta's C2 machines.

This is one of the reasons why Kinsta is better than SiteGround. You can see the difference here:

Google's N2 machines vs C2

2. Unlimited free migrations by experts

Kinsta’s experts will help you migrate your site to Kinsta for free if you want to switch hosts.

Their expert migration team will handle everything, so you don’t have to worry about any of the technical stuff. All you need to do is send a migration request from your hosting’s dashboard, and they do the rest.

On the other hand, SiteGround doesn’t provide a free migration by their support staff. Instead, you will have to migrate your site manually using their plugin.

And, if you want their support team to move your site to SiteGround, you will have to pay $30 per site.

3. Malware scanning and hack fix

Kinsta's malware scanning and hack fix feature will scan your site's code for any vulnerability, then fix them with the help of their team of experts.

It keeps your site safe from hackers and malicious attacks, so you can focus on growing your business.

4. Enterprise-level firewall and DDoS protection

Their platform feature enterprise-grade DDoS protection, ensuring your website is always online.

They also use a firewall that blocks all traffic from suspicious IP addresses. This helps you to prevent bots and DDoS attacks from affecting your website’s performance.

5. 35 Data Centre Locations

Kinsta offers customers 35 data center locations across the globe, which means you can pick a server location closest to your target audience.

You can choose from data center locations in the US, Canada, Europe, Asia, South America, and Australia.

6. HTTP/3 Support Right Out of the Box

You can now use HTTP/3 with Kinsta Hosting, a protocol that enables faster page loading times and more efficient connections between your web server and browser.

The benefits include

  • Faster page load speeds
  • Less connection overhead
  • Reduced latency

7. Regular uptime checks (every 2 minutes)

Kinsta ensures that your website is up and running at all times, with regular uptime checks every 2 minutes. If there are any issues with your site, they will alert you immediately so that you can take action.

8. Premium CDN powered by Cloudflare

They also use a premium Content Delivery Network (CDN) powered by Cloudflare.

Their CDN has access to over 200+ PoPs (points of presence). If someone is accessing your website from an area with poor internet connectivity or you have many visitors from one particular area, your website will still load quickly and efficiently.

9. Free APM Tool

With their free APM tool, you can monitor your WordPress website’s performance and health from your dashboard.

You can see how many visitors are currently on your site, how much CPU is used, and other insights into your site's performance.

10. Develop Locally with DevKinsta

If you're developing locally, your local environment must be as close to the production environment as possible.

That’s why they've created DevKinsta to make this process as easy and seamless as possible, so you don't have to worry about what might happen when you deploy your code live.

Features SiteGround Offers, But Kinsta Doesn’t:

1. Unlimited email accounts

SiteGround offers unlimited email accounts with its hosting package, and Kinsta does not.

If you want to add email addresses for your business, you'll need to purchase an email hosting plan from them or any third-party service like Google or Zoho.

2. Unlimited WordPress installs

With SiteGround, you can install as many websites as you want on a single account.

So, if you have a client needing multiple WordPress sites or if you're building your portfolio of sites, SiteGround is the right choice.

Kinsta doesn't offer unlimited WordPress installs. Their highest plan, Enterprise 4, allows up to 150 WordPress installs.

3. No banned plugins

SiteGround does not ban any plugins from being installed on your site, which means you have complete control over what plugins are installed on your website(s).

Kinsta doesn't allow certain plugins on their servers because they're known to be vulnerable or unstable. These include All-in-One WP Migration, BackupBuddy, BackWPup, Better WordPress Minify, P3 Profiler, etc.

Summary (Features)

Q: Which host offers more features?

A: Kinsta is the winner in this round, because it offers more features than SiteGround. Kinsta has a free CDN, HTTPS by default, and a free SSL certificate.

SiteGround does not offer these features.

Winner: Kinsta

3. Kinsta vs SiteGround - Performance

When it comes to performance, Kinsta and SiteGround are in a league of their own.

Both companies have been around for years and have built up a reputation for providing fast and reliable hosting services. However, some key differences can help you decide which is best for your needs.

In the following section, I'll compare Kinsta and SiteGround's performance.

We'll cover three key performance metrics: uptime, load time, and stress test.

Let’s start with uptime.

3.1. Hosting Uptime

Uptime is the percentage of time that your website is up and running. This is important because if your site goes down for even a few minutes, it could cost you a lot of money in lost revenue and customer goodwill.

Uptime should ideally be at least 99% or higher, but even with an average of 99%, there will still be times when it's down for maintenance or technical issues.

To measure the uptime of Kinsta and SiteGround, I used Pingdom tool. According to our tests, SiteGround had an average uptime of 99.99%, and Kinsta – 99.77%.

Here's the breakdown over the last 6 months:

October 2022

September 2022

August 2022

July 2022

June 2022

May 2022

6 Months Average Uptime

3.2. Load time

The load time is the amount of time it takes for your site to load fully. It is important because you want your customers to be able to interact with your website as soon as possible.

The faster a page loads, the more likely it will be that visitors will stick around and continue using your website. Ideally, you want this number to be less than 2 seconds.

Here are the results:

Load Time

1.5 sec

0.71 sec

544 ms

1.24 sec

3.3. Stress Test

Stress testing is when you put your website under heavy load to see if it can handle it. This is done by using tools like K6, which will simulate a large number of users visiting the site at the same time.

If it works, great. If not, you'll need to upgrade your hosting plan or buy more server resources.

Summary (Performance)

Q: Which host is faster?

A: Our benchmark tests show that Kinsta is faster than SiteGround.

I performed a series of tests using various tools on both hosts, and the results indicate that Kinsta performs significantly better in terms of average load time.

Winner: Kinsta

4. Kinsta vs SiteGround - Security

A company must offer features above and beyond what you would expect from the average web host to be a good hosting service. One of those features is security.

Each of these hosts offers powerful security features, but each has its way of providing them.

In this section, we'll look at how Kinsta and SiteGround differ in their approach to site security.

Kinsta’s Security Features:

Security is a top priority for Kinsta. They’re dedicated to providing you with the safest hosting environment possible.

Here are the security features that come standard with Kinsta:

1. Let's Encrypt SSL

Kinsta uses Let’s Encrypt to protect your sites with free SSL certificates, ensuring that no one can intercept your sensitive information.

The encryption also protects you against man-in-the-middle attacks and phishing attempts by locking down all communications between your browser and our servers.

2. Daily Automatic Backups

In addition to providing free SSL certificates, Kinsta ensures you never lose any data by backing up your sites daily. These backups are kept for 14 days and can be restored anytime.

3. Enterprise-level firewall and DDoS protection

Kinsta offers enterprise-level security features, including firewall protection against Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks.

With this feature, you can rest assured that your website will be protected from DDoS attacks and other malicious activity.

4. IP Banning

Kinsta’s IP bans feature allows you to block specific IP addresses from accessing your WordPress site.

You can set an IP ban on an individual user or a whole range of IP addresses. This feature is useful to prevent spam bots or other automated devices from accessing your server.

5. 2-Factor Authentication

Kinsta also offers two-factor authentication to help you keep your account secure.

With 2FA, you can set up a second layer of protection for your login process. It requires a code generated by an app or sent to your phone when you log in from a new device.

6. Updated Versions of PHP

PHP 8.0 is available on all Kinsta plans. They also offer support for PHP 8.1, considered one of the latest versions of PHP.

7. Regular Uptime Checks

The Kinsta platform includes a live site monitoring tool that will check for any issues on your site and alert you when something goes wrong.

The monitoring tool is scheduled to run every 2 minutes, meaning you'll be notified as soon as there's a problem.

8. Automatic WordPress Security Patches

They have automatic security patches turned on for all of their customers' WordPress sites by default.

This means that whenever an update comes out from WordPress core or one of the popular plugins like WooCommerce, they'll automatically upgrade it.

9. Encrypted SFTP and SSH

Kinsta's servers are configured to support SFTP and SSH, an encrypted file transfer protocol.

All files you upload to your Kinsta account will be encrypted, which means nobody can intercept the data during transmission.

10. Free Hack Fix

Kinsta has a dedicated security team constantly monitoring for any attack or abuse on its servers.

In case your site is compromised, they will immediately identify and fix the issue without any downtime to your site. They also offer free support for security issues, so you never have to worry about them.

11. Complete isolation technology

Kinsta is built on top of the Google Cloud Platform, which uses a multi-tenant architecture to separate customers' instances and data.

This means that your sites will be isolated from each other.

Even if one site gets hacked, it won't impact the others on your account and vice versa.

SiteGround’s Security Features:

Like Kinsta, SiteGround also offers many security features that can help protect your website from hackers and other threats.

Here are they.

1. Free SSL Certificate

SiteGround offers an SSL certificate for free with each hosting plan (including shared hosting). This means all your websites have HTTPS enabled by default without having to do anything extra.

2. Daily Backups

SiteGround automatically backs up all of your files daily, so if you accidentally delete something important, it can be recovered immediately from the backup system.

3. WordPress Auto Updates

This feature automatically updates your WordPress installation with the latest security patches and bug fixes, so you don't have to worry about keeping your WordPress installation up to date yourself.

4. AI Anti-Bot

SiteGround uses artificial intelligence (AI) to detect bots and prevent them from accessing your site.

5. 24/7 Server Monitoring

SiteGround’s servers are monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by professionals who keep an eye on things for you so that you don’t have to worry about security issues like malware or hacking attempts.

6. All-in-one WordPress Security Plugin

With the All-in-one WordPress Security plugin, you can secure your site in just a few clicks. It features malware scanning and prevention, brute force protection, and automatic updates for all your plugins, themes, and core files.

7. Smart WAF

The Smart WAF is a web application firewall that protects your website from malicious attacks. It works by inspecting the HTTP requests made by users' browsers and blocking any suspicious requests before they reach your server.

8. Free Cloudflare Integration

Another security feature that SiteGround offers is free Cloudflare integration. With this integration, your website will be protected from DDoS attacks.

5. Kinsta vs SiteGround - Pricing

Kinsta and SiteGround are two of the most popular WordPress hosting providers. Both companies offer a variety of plans and pricing options to suit different needs, but how do they compare?

In this pricing section, I will break down the main differences between Kinsta and SiteGround so you can choose the right one for your business.

Let's take a look at the pricing comparison:

Kinsta’s Plans and Pricing:

Kinsta offers ten different WordPress hosting plans, starting at $35 per month and going up to $1650 per month.

The plans differ mainly in the number of WordPress installations, the storage quota, monthly visits, and PHP workers per site.

Here’s their WordPress hosting pricing:

SiteGround’s Plans and Pricing:

SiteGround offers a variety of packages to fit every need, including shared, WordPress, WooCommerce, reseller, and cloud hosting.

SiteGround’s plans and pricing range from $3.95 per month for a shared WordPress hosting plan to $100 per month for a cloud server.

Here is a quick overview of their different plans:

6. Kinsta vs SiteGround - Customer Support

When it comes to web hosting, customer support is a major factor in deciding which service you're going to use. You don't want to work with a company that doesn't care about its customers or services, and you certainly don't want to be left in the dark when something goes wrong.

Kinsta and SiteGround both offer high-quality hosting services and have a reputation for having great customer support teams.

But how do they stack up against each other?

In this section, I'll look at Kinsta's and SiteGround's customer support systems: what they offer, how they're similar/different, and who we think gives better customer service overall.

Kinsta’s Customer Support

Kinsta offers 24/7 live chat support via the MyKinsta dashboard. You can reach our support team by clicking on the chat icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.

If you cannot log in to your dashboard, you can also mail them to, and one of their support staff will contact you as soon as possible.

Kinsta doesn't offer phone support because they want to focus on high-quality customer service instead of just answering calls all day long.

SiteGround’s Customer Support

SiteGround’s customer support is one of the best in the industry. They have a dedicated support staff who answer questions quickly and efficiently, and they have an amazing interface that makes it easy to find answers to your questions.

They have 24/7 live chat support - not just during regular business hours, but 24/7. Whenever you have a question or problem, you can reach out to them on their website and get an answer within minutes. That's not something that many other companies offer.

SiteGround also offers phone and ticketing support, with 24/7 availability.

For extra security when providing support over the phone, they require customers to supply a temporary access code. This 8-digit code should be generated by the customer before each phone call in their Help Center and is valid for 30 minutes.

7. Kinsta vs SiteGround - Customer Reviews

Before you decide on a web hosting provider, it’s always a good idea to read customer reviews of your options.

By reading customer reviews, you can find out how reliable a host is and how responsive the company is regarding customer service issues.

That's why I've researched how Kinsta and SiteGround stack up against each other regarding customer satisfaction.

First, look at their customer ratings on G2, Review Signal, and other review sites to see how they stack up against each other.

I’ve also included some reviews from real customers so you can see how Kinsta stacks up against SiteGround.

8. Kinsta vs SiteGround - Final Verdict

Kinsta and SiteGround are both great web hosting providers, but they each have strengths and weaknesses.

The best option for you will depend on what kind of website you're building, how much traffic it gets, and how much time you want to spend managing your server.

If you're looking for a super-fast hosting solution with rock-solid security and top-notch support, I recommend Kinsta.

They offer some of the fastest servers on the market and 24/7 live chat with their team.

Their uptime record is also above-average, with their servers having an uptime of 99.9% over the last 12 months.

They also have some of the best security features, including two-factor authentication and firewall software to protect your site from attacks.

On the other hand, SiteGround might be the best budget option on this list, but its focus on affordability means you'll have to make some sacrifices when it comes to performance and speed. If you're looking for a good deal with minimal compromise, then SiteGround is worth looking at.
